Ivan Nikolić

University of Belgrade, Faculty of Biology

Ivan Nikolić obtained his PhD in 2018 at the Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade, where he investigated genetic diversity, ecology and biological control of the plant pathogen Pseudomonas syringae. He received a postdoctoral fellowship by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, Republic of Serbia, to work with Andreas Diepold at Max Planck Institute for Terrestrial Microbiology, Marburg, Germany, on molecular function, regulation and activation of Type 3 Secretion System in Pseudomonas syringae. Ivan is now a Research Associate at the Faculty of Biology in University of Belgrade, where he investigates the epidemiology of Pseudomonas syringae, in order to understand molecular pathways included in the invasion and virulence of this particular pathogen. His current work involves examination of the assembly and environmental regulation of Type 3 Secretion System, as well as the expression of effector proteins, important virulence factors of Pseudomonas syringae. Ivan has been a member of the Serbian Society for Microbiology, Serbian Biological Society and Federation of European Microbiological Societies (FEMS) since 2014.
