Tijana Stanković

Dr. Tijana Stanković obtained her PhD in Molecular Biology at University of Belgrade in 2011. She started her professional carrier with internship at the Department of Physiology and Biophysics, University of Iowa, United States. Currently, she is a Senior Research Associate at the Institute for Biological Research “Siniša Stanković” - National Institute of Republic of Serbia, University of Belgrade. Her research has been focused on molecular mechanisms of carcinogenesis, identifying potential molecular markers of various cancer types, different therapeutic approaches for cancer treatment, and overcoming multidrug resistance in cancer. Recently, she has focused on 3D cancer cell culture models application in anti-cancer drug discovery and development. Dr. Stanković participated in several national and international research projects and collaborative consorciums. Dr. Stanković has published 34 scientific papers in highly ranked international journals, 3 book chapters and more than 80 reports at international and national meetings, including two invited lectures. Dr. Stanković has also been involved in teaching at the PhD program Experimental Neurobiology at the Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade. She was awarded “Best Master’s Thesis in Molecular Biology” by Goran Ljubijankić Foundation in 2008 and mentored a PhD thesis that was awarded “Best PhD Thesis in Molecular Biology” by the same Foundation in 2018. Dr. Stanković was a member of the team that won second prize at the Competition for “Best Technological Innovation in Serbia” in the biology field in 2008.
