Vittorio Venturi

Since March 1997, Vittorio Venturi is a Group Leader of the Bacteriology Group of the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB), Trieste, Italy.

Scientific interests are (i) how plant associated bacteria undergo interspecies communication and interkingdom signaling with plants, (ii) the role of LuxR solos in plant associated proteobacteria and (ii) plant microbiomes and the development of microbial products for a more sustainable agriculture

Supervised several PhD students and postdocs most of whom coming from developing countries.

Invited as speaker to many international symposia, organized several international workshops and courses and managed numerous national and international grants from government agencies, foundations and industry.

Acting as editor of two international journals and is a regular reviewer for journals and funding agencies.

Organizer of several international workshops and courses.

Published 130 papers in international peer-reviewed scientific journals.
